Incoming Students

Welcome to the University of Michigan

Whether you’ve already been admitted or are working on discerning which college is best for you, we’re glad you found us. We know we’re a little biased, but we think that attending a world-class university with a thriving Christian Study Center is the best education possible!

The Michigan Christian Study Center exists to be a physical gathering space for study, reflection, and community. When you stop by to study, hang out with your friends, or attend an event, you will meet students from across the University who are engaged in different student ministries, Christian faculty, and other Christians who care about you as a whole person.

We are Christian in the broad, historically orthodox sense—described by C.S. Lewis as “mere Christianity”—based in the Bible and summarized in the Apostle’s Creed. We do not advance any particular political or cultural agenda; rather, we seek to exercise a faithful and thoughtful Christian presence in U.S. public higher education.

We like to summarize the student experience in the three short sentences we’ve detailed below…

  • A Place to study.

Housed in a beautiful historic building just steps from central campus, our building is open to students weekdays throughout the academic year. Our upper floor is reserved as a quiet study area, while our main floor has a coffee-shop vibe for those who prefer background chatter and music.

Even better, we’re always serving free coffee, tea, and a variety of tasty snacks!

  • A Place to connect.

The word connect means several things at the Michigan Christian Study Center. It can mean connecting with other people as you visit the center, attend our events, or meet with your friends. But it also means connecting your faith with your academic life. What does it mean to be a Christian engineer? Or a Christian psychologist, lawyer, teacher, etc.? We believe connecting your faith to your academic life will positively impact your life and the world.

  • A Place to belong.

We’ve built our learning community on the practice of hospitality because we believe that having a place on campus that you call “home” will transform your college experience.

Hear from some of our current students

“The Michigan Christian Study Center has been such a blessing because it provides students with a place right next to campus that feels like our home away from home. It’s the first place I like to go to after class because I know I’ll walk in and be greeted by name and accepted.”
