MCSC Spring Update
Springtime in Michigan is notoriously unpredictable, with snow flurries following warm sunny days in quick succession. Uncertainty also characterizes the higher education landscape as university leaders try to anticipate and respond to national events, and faculty wonder what all of this means for their research prospects. February Update from the MCSC
One afternoon last week while working on my computer at the Center, I struck up a conversation with Thomas, a frequent student visitor. We began by discussing sports, naturally, but soon the conversation turned to C.S. Lewis. Thomas recently read Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters, and The Great Divorce is next on his list. The Center had hosted a Great Divorce discussion last year, so I went downstairs to our library and pulled out an extra copy and gave it to Thomas. Then we conversed about Lewis’s deep reflections on time in The Great Divorce (which I partially comprehend)…

Launching the New Year
The beginning of a new semester brings a fresh burst of energy to a university campus. We are certainly experiencing a surge in excitement and activity at the Michigan Christian Study Center despite the January chill. As director, I have the joy of seeing the Center develop into a community of faithful learners who are bringing a Christian influence to the University of Michigan.
