Josh Welch
Josh Welch is an Associate Professor of Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics at the University of Michigan. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was involved with the North Carolina Study Center and was the student president of the Intervarsity Graduate Christian Fellowship. He did postdoctoral research at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT before joining the University of Michigan in 2018. His academic research focuses on developing artificial intelligence techniques for deciphering molecular mechanisms of the cell. In addition to serving on the board of the Michigan Christian Study Center, he is the faculty advisor of the Ratio Christi student apologetics group at the University of Michigan. He is proud to have earned vicarious national championships in both basketball (UNC ’17) and football (Michigan ’23). Josh and his wife Jeanna have three children.
